Today’s Activity:

I sort of skipped passed Earth day so today, do something good for the earth.

Note:

You can plan a tree or go to a public place and pick up trash.

Evaluate:

While we were on a hike Max was so good about picking up trash!  I always feels so sad when I’m outdoors and there is trash.  We found a few lost sandals and several water bottles.  Things looked much nicer after we picked up a few things.

HAPPY EASTER!

Saturday April 3rd, 2010

Saturday, April 3rd, 2010

Today’s Activity:

Look into some local Easter celebrations.  The city we live in puts on an amazing Easter egg hunt every year and I know that some grocery stores do Easter egg hunts as well.

Note:

If you’re not up for going out then at least dye some Easter eggs at home.

Evaluate:

There isn’t much to evaluate because it is still Friday for me but we plan to go the the city Easter Egg hunt and then we have 2 birthday parties to go to so it will be a busy day!  Max and Elese look forward the Easter Egg hunt every year so I’m sure we will have a great time.

Today’s Activity:

Today is Good Friday and the perfect opportunity to teach your children about the reason that we celebrate Easter.

Note:

If you celebrate Easter for religious reasons then teach them about the biblical history of Easter.  If Easter is a way to welcome the spring then teach them the beauties of this great season.

Monthly Goal:

The day got away from me so I didn’t do anything extra special but I did take Elese to ballet and my husband took both the kids swimming tonight.

Don’t forget to leave a comment about something good you did today so you can be entered in our drawing for a $25 GC.  Go here to learn more about our giveaway.

Today’s Activity:

Today is Ash Wednesday.  Learn about or participate in this holiday.

Note:

Remember that I am trying to bring attention to all holidays so that we can teach our children about holiday’s that they may or may not celebrate so they can better understand their friends who have different beliefs.

Evaluate:

There isn’t much to evaluate because like I said, the day got away from me.

Recognition!

Joylyn let her son talk to Grandma on the phone.  That is defiantly a favorite thing for little ones to do!

Tuesday, February 16th, 2010

Monthly Goal:

Today I said yes when my kids asked for treats.  They ate WAY too many sweets but you should have seen the look of surprise on their faces every time I said yes.

Don’t forget to leave a comment about something good you did today so you can be entered in our drawing for a $25 GC.  Go here to learn more about our giveaway.

Today’s Activity:

Today is Mardi Gras.  Do a little research and have your own little Mardi Gras at home.

Note:

Don’t forget to play some Jazz music in the background!

Evaluate:

I went a little overboard and decided to make some homemade king cake.  It didn’t turn as pretty as the real thing but I think it tasted better.  The kids enjoyed having an extra treat before bed and learning a little bit about Mardi Gras.

Don’t forget to leave a comment about something good you did today so you can be entered in our drawing for a $25 GC.  Go here to learn more about our giveaway.

Today’s Activity:

Learn about B’Shvat.

Note:

Today is B’Shvat, a Jewish holiday.  This year I’m going to focus on different holidays that we may or may not know about.

Evaluate:

This was a really quick activity.  I like teaching my children about other faiths and cultures.  Because my only way to look up info is online I don’t necessarily get all the information or even accurate information.  Today we ready about B’Shvat on Wikipedia and learned that sometimes on this day they plant a tree and eat dried fruit and nuts.  I’m sure there is a lot more to it than that but it got us talking and Max remembered playing dradle with the librarian who is Jewish.  After that we helped ourselves to some almonds.

Friday, January 1st, 2010

Monthly Goal:

I’m sure you all have a pet peeve involving your children.  Mine is them constantly forgetting to flush the toilet.  If you’re like me you just let it slide and hope that someday you will have the energy to put a stop to their nasty habits.  Well in the spirit of New Years Resolutions resolve to help your children improve in some way.  Now this does work as a monthly goal for YOU because most likely you will have to do plenty of reminding or even come up with a few consequences or rewards to make this happen.

Today’s Activity:

Odd’s are Daddy has today off work.  You may not even check the website today…but if you do…do something fun as a family.  Go to the dollar movies, go on a hike, find an indoor climbing wall or even eat out at a favorite restaurant.  Whatever it is make sure you have a fun time together as a family.

Note:

If daddy did have to work maybe a working mom you know is home for the day and you can get together and let the kids play.
