Today’s Activity:

Go to a local sporting event.

Note:

If there isn’t anything near you or you don’t have the cash stop by a park in the evening and see if there are any games going on.

Evaluate:

We went to a baseball game.  This was a great thing to do as a family.  Max was even given a foul ball by a guy that worked there.  We went with my BIL and his family and Elese enjoyed eating all their peanuts and popcorn.  After Max got the ball he asked the Bee to sign it.  He was so excited when he looked and saw the signature of “Bumble.”  It was a great night.

Today’s Activity:

Have a girls night out.

Note:

If you can’t find a sitter then bring the kids along.

Evaluate:

My childhood friend Angel came and helped me paint our new place while my hubby was out of town and I’ve been promising her I’d treat her to dinner.  Not only did she help paint but she even climbed up on the big scary ladder to paint the inside of the stairwell.  I was so impressed because I was terrified.  Well I finally figured out a time to do it but my husband has a shoot so I would have the kids and didn’t want to pay a sitter.  I had suggested that we get take out and just hang out at my place when she said, “Why don’t we bring the kids and have a picnic at the park?”  What a brilliant idea especially for a girl without any kids of her own.  She’s a saint.  Not only do I get to hang out with my friend and visit but my kids will think I’m the greatest mom ever because I’m letting them stay up past bedtime to play at a park.  To save some money I fed the kids before we went because we all know that if there is playground equipment available they aren’t going to eat anyway.

Today’s Activity:

Go have a picnic in the mountains.

Note:

If you can’t make it to the mountain at least make some indoor smores.

Evaluate:

Things started out pretty fun but it wasn’t long until I was ready to go home.  The kids had a blast but they kept sticking their hands in soot and asking for food so I didn’t even get a minute to sit and enjoy the great outdoors.  Although it wasn’t the much needed break that I needed I’m still glad we went.  Max and Elese had a blast and were in dire need of a bath afterward.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY!

Today’s Activity:

Enjoy the great outdoors and changing weather by going up the mountains and having an adventure.

Note:

The adventure can be anything from playing in the dirt to going on a hike.  Whatever you choose to do just be sure to have fun!

Evaluate:

We were fortunate enough to get to tag along with my husband on a shoot for work.  After a little bit of jeeping we drove up to the top of a mountain in a Subaru with 4 wheel drive.  I was so nervous that the car was going to get badly damaged but it all worked out.  Later on we were able to do some riding on the company ATV’s.  Elese got a little scared in the jeep when we would climb up big hills but Max loved it.  Especially when they got to go splashing through puddles.  The windows had been down and he got dirt all over his face.  Elese was also pretty timid when I took her out on the ATV.  She would start to cry if I went more than 20 mph but on the jeeping trip she would randomly scream “WEeeee!!!!”.  Don’t worry if you can’t go do some crazy adventure like this because by far, the best part of the day was watching the kids play in the dry mud.

Monthly Goal:

Today I spent $40 on Max’s Karate belt review instead of spending that $40 on going out to dinner with friends.  He is so excited about it that he even dreamed last night that he got his yellow belt and his dream came true so it was worth it!

Don’t forget to leave a comment about something good you did today so you can be entered in our drawing for a $25 GC.  Go here to learn more about our giveaway.

Today’s Activity:

This may be your last chance to find some snow nearby.  Head up to the mountains if there isn’t any close by and go sledding.

Note:

If you can’t come across enough to go sledding then throw as many snow balls as you can with what you have available.

Evaluate:

We didn’t get to do this today because we had a very full day.  Part of our full day was meeting some friends at McDonalds for lunch and I know my little ones didn’t mind.

RECOGNITION!

Amy has  been taking her kids to the park everyday before school to help them get their wiggles out.  What a great idea!

bread dough

Today’s Activity:

Bake something yummy with the kids.

Note:

I’m making my favorite new bread recipe.  If it is ready in time for dinner serve it with Jam and call it dessert!

Evaluate:

Our day filled up pretty fast today so I wasn’t able to actually bake the bread but we did get the dough mixed and we are going to make it tomorrow.  That is one of the great things about this recipe, you don’t have to make it right away, in fact you could even wait up to 2 weeks to bake it!  The kids weren’t too excited about making the bread because they just wanted to play but once they started helping me measure stuff out they couldn’t agree on who got to help me next because they both wanted a turn.

swimming

Today’s Activity:

Take the kids swimming in an indoor pool.

Note:

Be sure to pack some warm clothes for them to wear on the way home.

Evaluate:

First off you should know that I have a fear of water.  When water gets on my face in the shower I immediately wipe it dry with a nearby towel.  But every time we drive past the rec center Elese says, “Mommy, can we go swimming sometime?” and I figured that “sometime” should finally arrive.  So the worst part was when Elese decided that she wanted to go down the big slide all by herself (remember me and my fear of water?) and I wasn’t thrilled about it.  Of course she loved it and was just fine…then she asked me to go down the slide with her.  UGH!  But I did the good mommy thing and went down with her and it wasn’t bad because your face never goes under the water and that is my biggest issue.  The best part was when my husband suggested I go sit in the hot tub for a bit.  It was VERY relaxing however I always find it awkward sitting in a hot tub with a bunch of strangers but the social discomfort was worth it.  As the night went on I started to really enjoy the swimming and I was actually thinking, “We should do this more often.”  So, watch out, this may be suggested on here a little more often.

Today’s Activity:

Go look at some local Christmas lights tonight.

Note:

If there aren’t any big displays in your area at least go for a drive around some nearby neighborhoods and ooo and ahhh together.

Black Friday November 27th, 2009

Friday, November 27th, 2009

Today’s Activity:

Go shopping!  Who can resist Black Friday?  If you can, or if you have every year before now well resist no longer.  My in laws got me hooked on this great day!  We go every year and usually meet at 3:30am!  I know, crazy, right?  Well the deals are great but the memories and going out for breakfast after are even better.  You could get all your Christmas shopping done in one day!

Note:

If you’re not an early bird don’t worry because lots of the sales go on all day.  You can choose if you want to involve the kids in this activity or not.  You could always bring them along with you so they can purchase their sibling and/or cousin gifts.  Make this a fun day and if you go out at 3:30am then be sure YOU get a nap!  If you don’t get the paper check out this great website to learn about all the deals going on today.

Now that I’m home safe and sound here is the story of my thrilling day!
