Today’s Activity:

Play a board game with your children today.

Note:

Do your best to not rush through it.  Just sit and enjoy the time together.

Max was so excited about playing Battleship today.  It was a lot of fun but the best part was that he didn’t cry when I sunk his battleship.  He’s getting so grown up.

Today’s Activity:

Get out a board game and play it with your kids.

Note:

Don’t LET them win but just play the game as you normally would.  If they get used to not always winning at home with mommy then they will be less likely to have a melt down when they lose at a game they play with their friends.

Evaluate:

Max wanted to play a memory game tonight so that’s what we did.  The kids were super hyper because it was closing in on bed time.  Although I would have rather had them in bed, it is still nice to see them so happy with me just making a small effort.

Reminder:

Have you been giving your kids choices?  Not me…I keep forgetting so this is my own personal reminder of this months goal.

Today’s Activity:

Go out and purchase a kid friendly board game you’ve wanted to buy and play it with your kids.

FREE:

Play a board game you already have.

Note:

Playing board games can be a great learning tool for your children.  It helps them learn to loose and win gracefully along with counting, reading and color skills.  Some games my kids enjoy are Sorry, Candy Land, Mouse Trap and Checkers.

Prepare:

Go to the store and by Ice cream cones (be sure to get the sugar/waffle cones) and Runts candy.

Honestly I did NOT want to do this!  In fact about a week ago Max asked if we could play board games and I took pictures of us then just in case.  For some reason my kids were just getting on my nerves today but I told myself that I still needed to play a game with them.  Not totally convinced that I wanted to do it I left it up to Max and asked him if he wanted to play Candy Land.  I was not surprised when he gave a very enthusiastic yes.  Watching them play improved my mood and helped calm them down.  However, I will admit that I was not sad when a friend came over and they all decided to go play outside.  Lucky for me this provides the peace I desire while cooking dinner so the only tears I will shed while cooking are the ones that come when chopping onions.
