Today’s Activity:

Talk with you children individually about something you have been concerned about.

Note:

Approaching them about a behavioral issue at a time when they are not doing it will help them be less defensive and more susceptible to understanding your concerns.

Evaluate:

Lately my children have been fascinated with wrapping things around their necks.  It will be anything from ribbons to shoe laces.  I’m not sure where this started but today I had a sit down with both of them individually.  First I told them that it is against the rules to do that and then I told them why.  I made it clear that this rule is in place because I love them and that wrapping things around your neck can quickly turn from fun to harm.

Today’s Activity:

Listen to some uplifting music.

Note:

It can be any type of music as long as it makes you happy.

Evaluation:

Initially today’s activity was going to be “Run Away.”   aka have some much needed mommy time.  Today I really wanted to run away.  I worked until 2am and then woke up to Elese SCREAMING.  She just kept yelling about everything so I’m very tired and very impatient.  Then after I put Elese down for her nap and turned on the music she likes to listen to when she goes to sleep I suddenly felt calm.  Oh, the power of soothing music.  So, if you need to run away then run away for an hour or two (with your children in good hands of course) but if you can’t get away just turn on some music that will brighten your mood.
