Today’s Activity:

It’s that time again.  Schedule a sitter for a night out with your sweetie*.

Note:

Plan something HE would want to do for this date night.  Surprise him with an action movie you really don’t want to see or maybe even double date with HIS friends.  This activity is about making you happier but if you make your man happy he just might give you a nice back rub as a thank you…or maybe chocolates.

Prepare:

Friday is another day for baking something yummy.  You will be making your favorite cookies and if they’re your favorite you will probably already have all the ingredients but if you don’t take a quick trip to the store today.

*If you are a single mom then plan a night out on your own, you deserve it!  It can be a girl’s night out or maybe you’ve wanted to ask someone out for a while.  Whatever it is make time for you!

I was thinking it would be fun to have a costume contest.  There is so much time and effort put into Halloween costumes that we may as well get rewarded for our efforts, right?

Here’s how it works:

• Take a picture of your kids (and you if you like) and email it to me at mediocremomsguide@gmail.com.  Please include a note saying something like, “I give mediocremom.com permission to publish this photo on their webiste.”
• Me and a group of highly trained costume connoisseurs (my hubby and kids and maybe my mom) will choose our 5 favorite costume combination’s.
• One November 5th we will post our favs on mediocremom.com  and our readers can vote for their favorite.  (that means you have until November 4th to submit your photo to us).  Be sure to let all your friends and family know about it so they can vote too (only one vote per google account, or whatever source you use to comment on blogs).
• Voting will end Sunday November 8th at midnight.
• The winner will be announced on Monday November 9th at 9:00am.

Now your asking “What will I win?”  My amazingly talented husband is not only a producer, writer, filmer (not the technical term), editor, etc…but he is also a great artist.  Every other year he creates a cartoon drawing of both of our families as a Christmas gift to our parents.  This is the highlight of the year while everyone tries to find their cartoon selves in the picture.  So, you will win a drawing of your own family as a cartoon in a frame along with a CD with a Jpeg copy on it so you can use it as your family Christmas card or just give a copy to Grandma and Grandpa.  It can be just your own little family or your extended family (please no more than 30 people, one page can only fit so many people on it).

Once you win:

Send us (mediocremomsguide@gmail.com) a photo of your family that you would like him to draw from along with a breif character description of everyone in the family (ie Dad is always reading the paper, johnny plays basketball, Susi can never put down her baby dolls and mommy is a couponing fanatic.)  It also helps to know something your family enjoys doing together (watching sports) and/or a funny family story like the turkey catching on fire…it happened to us, see the drawing below.  The sooner you send it the sooner you will get it.  Here are a few that he has done in the past for our families and friends.
