Today’s Activity:

Escape the heat by having a yummy frozen treat with your little ones.

Note:

This can be anything from an otter pop out of your freezer to some gourmet ice cream.

Today we went to see Toy Story 3 and afterward we discovered a new ice cream place at the theater where they make their ice cream fresh everyday.  It was super yummy!  It’s rare that I’m willing to spend lots of money on treats but this was a fun special day and the kids really enjoyed it.

Today’s Activity:

While out running Errands today surprise your children with some sort of treat or surprise.

Note:

If you don’t have errands to run today then make an effort to leave the house simply for the purpose of getting your little ones a special surprise.

As we were leaving to pick up Max from Karate Elese told me that she wanted to stay home with Grandma while I went to get Max.  I calmly just said, “Oh, OK, so you don’t want to go with us to get ice cream after we pick up Max?”  Elese is no fool so she said, “Oh, wait, I DO want to go with you to get Max.”  It worked out quite nicely because the kids just sat on the porch eating ice cream while I got a few things done for work.

ice cream

Today’s Activity:

Surprise your kids with an extra sweet after school snack today.  Feed them ice cream with hot fudge and if you have a cherry to put on top then that’s SUPER.

Note:

Buy the plastic gallon size ice cream container so you can use it for our upcoming craft.  Also, if you don’t have hot fudge on hand then try this recipe.

Prepare:

Set your TV recording device to record any upcoming Christmas specials.

Preapare #2:  Round up some buckets (ice cream buckets will do) we will be using these for a Christmas craft in the coming weeks.

Today began for me at 3am with a sick little girl and it didn’t get much better from there.  I have to admit that sometimes doing this website, trying to find the time for my kids is such a chore…but after a day like today I needed it.  Although I rushed through making the hot fudge and said, “just a minute” way too many times, once I sat down at the table to eat with my kids the stress went away.  Chocolate is an amazing thing…as is time with your kids.  I’m not saying that I didn’t have a million things on my mind but it was a nice forced break.  I’m sure my kids could tell that I wasn’t all there but I hope that they will at least appreciate the effort.

Today’s Activity:

Plan a date night.

Note:

If you’d like to apply this to your monthly goal then do something physical together.  You can play a sport or simply go for a walk around the mall.

Prepare:

Buy some ice cream and HOT fudge for tomorrow…or make hot fudge with this yummy recipe. We will eat this tomorrow but more importantly we will use the carton for an upcoming holiday decoration.  SO be sure to buy LOTS of ice cream that comes in the big plastic containers.  We are going to make ice luminary lights so be collecting any kind of container that would make a fun shape for a BIG ice cube.
