HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAX!  Love you bug!

Monthly Goal:

Today I bought Max new church clothes because I was getting embarrassed by his floods.

Don’t forget to leave a comment about something good you did today so you can be entered in our drawing for a $25 GC.  Go here to learn more about our giveaway.

Today’s Activity:

Watch a movie with your kids today.

Note:

Don’t allow yourself to have any distractions.  Just sit with them and enjoy listening to their laughter.

Evaluate:

Rather than doing this the day before you guys do I’m going to do it today.  Today is Max’s birthday and after we take him out for his birthday dinner my husband has to got back to work so the kids and I are going to rent a movie and have a little celebration on our own.

RECOGNITION!

Joylyn let her 2 year old help her clean the house and as we all know, things generally get done quicker when we do them ourselves.  Way to go Joylyn I’m sure your kiddo loved it!

Today’s Activity:

Say yes today.

Note:

It can be to anything you would normally say no to (that doesn’t put them in harms way of course).

Evaluate:

Today Elese asked if she could play with my yoga mat.  Generally this gets a no for an answer because I end up tripping over it all day.  Today I said yes.  Once she was on the yoga mat I took a little time to show her some poses that are named after animals…together, in down dog, we barked and growled; it was really fun.  Plus, it helped me with this months goal.  Are you being more active?  (PS the picture above is from about 1 year ago)

Max has been sick and home from school and it’s sort of driving me crazy.  I’ve lost my me time to read for about 10 minutes and then work on extra projects or get some house work done without interruption.   Don’t think I’m a horrible mom for not just sitting and caring for him…he really has the energy of a healthy kid he just has the runs and doesn’t quite run fast enough to the bathroom, not a great thing to send to school.  Anywho, I wanted to work on my stuff but he asked me to sit with him and I said yes.  Together we watched Shark Boy and Lava girl on the Disney Channel and I laughed at the young Taylor what’s his face from Twilight.  It was very enjoyable…and excessively cheesey…but the time with Max was superb!

halloween cartoons

Today’s Activity:

Tomorrow is going to be a fun and sugar rushed day so let’s make today a little mellower.  Remember how I said to record some Halloween movies on your digital video recorder?  Today is the day to use them.  Pop some popcorn (if you have it) and watch a movie to get in the Halloween spirit.

Note:

If you didn’t have a chance, or the equipment, to record anything I’m sure most of the “after-school cartoons” will have a Halloween theme.  You could always try the video store as well, but they may be all checked out.

Advise:

Tomorrow is going to be a long day and your kids may go to bed late or even miss out on a nap or two.  I will be putting my kids to bed at least a half hour early.  If you think I’m crazy then at least try for 5 or 10 minutes early.  You’ll thank me later.  In my favorite things you’ll find the sleep book that I live by.

Evaluate:

I try to avoid letting my kids watch too much TV but my kids definitely needed a day where they just sat.  Generally they don’t sit still long enough to watch anything but they made it through 3 cartoons!   This was a great excuse for me to sit down and relax with them.  It was a wonderfull day for all of use!  We even got in our Jammies at 4pm and made it a pajama party.
