Evaluate:

While cleaning up Elese’s room I took a moment to listen to her tell me about her dress up dolls.  Then after a very hectic attempt at making a good dinner and after spilling half it down my lap I had to run to the bank and then the store for one last ingredient.  Max stayed home with Grandma but Elese tagged along.  I just kept thinking about how I was so embarrassed to go into the store with spilled red sauce on my pants because I hadn’t had time to change…then I looked in the rear-view mirror to see my sweet little chatter box, took a deep breath, and was suddenly calmed down by her endless, completely trivial, chatter.  After that I couldn’t stop thinking about how much I love her and that I needn’t rush through life because she will remember mommy taking the time to let her push the buttons at the self checkout WAY more than she will remember that the new recipe I tried tonight wasn’t perfect.

Today’s Activity:

Grab the kids (and the trail mix you made on Saturday) and hit the trail.

Note:

If you are in need of a break from your little ones have a friend or your husband take them out while you get some R&R.

Evaluate:

I had hoped to go on the hike this morning but I have been SUPER tired lately and even been falling asleep at work.  Lucky for me my husband is GREAT and he  took them out hiking and even met up with some friends while I stayed in bed and slept.  I was thinking that I got SO much sleep because I slept until 10:45 but then I realized that was really just over 8 hours of sleep.  From the sounds of things everyone had a great time.  Steven (my hubby) enjoyed having some time with the guys while the kids loved running and playing with their little friends.

Monthly Goal:

Today I bought Max new church clothes because I was getting embarrassed by his floods.

Today’s Activity:

Watch a movie with your kids today.

Note:

Don’t allow yourself to have any distractions.  Just sit with them and enjoy listening to their laughter.

Evaluate:

Rather than doing this the day before you guys do I’m going to do it today.  Today is Max’s birthday and after we take him out for his birthday dinner my husband has to got back to work so the kids and I are going to rent a movie and have a little celebration on our own.

RECOGNITION!

Joylyn let her 2 year old help her clean the house and as we all know, things generally get done quicker when we do them ourselves.  Way to go Joylyn I’m sure your kiddo loved it!

Today’s Activity:

Take a moment to relax and just watch your children play and interact with each other.

Notes:

Seeing them play together and solve their own problems is a great way to see what areas they are struggling in…plus when you’re not watching is usually when they say the cutest things.

Evaluate:

It was so much fun watching my kids interact.  Elese had gotten some new birthday toys and together they figured out how to use them and got along MOST of the time.  Later on while Max was at school Elese just played for the longest time talking to her self and pretending to be different characters depending on the toy in her hand at that particular time.  I found so much joy in just watching them just  be themselves.
